As you can tell I haven't posted much in Aug... so I thought I would share a little bit about how come. In July I was sustained as the Secretary in the newly called RS Presidency in my new ward. Yup, did you catch that... I'm the newby and I'm in charge of taking roll. You gotta love it! I hate to think of how many times I've asked the same people what their name is again... but I can honestly say I now have a pretty good grasp of about 90% of the womens name in the ward. Now who they're married to is a different story... hopefully that will come with more time. This is a picture of the business card I created for our new presidency. The president (I won't name names... but you can look and see) is a bit camera shy, so hopefully down the road a bit I can post a photo of the four of us. I have so enjoyed the past 7 weeks of getting to know the ladies in the presidency, visiting the active and the not so active, learning a ton of names and getting to put them with faces, canvasing the ward with fliers, our enrichment night progressive dinner, creating reports, typing up Sunday bulletins and of course calling people I hardly know to give prayers. Except for the prayer part... I hope my calling never ends. Did I mention I knew this was going to be my calling??

Golf anyone?
I took a day away from the office today and played a little golf in the annual IREM golf tournament. It was such a nice day weather wise and playing wise. I did so bad the last time I played with my brother, Steve, that I forced myself to go out and spend some much needed time at the driving range. Thank you SJO for joining me... you made it so much more fun!

Time Stealer

Here is the finished puzzle I just put together! I think it's the first one I have ever done all by myself. I honestly didn't know if I could do it without help... but I did! It was so relaxing to do... yes, even when it took days sometimes to find one specific piece. I found it to be a total time stealer however. I would walk by it and think "oh, I'll just put one piece in before I go to work today" and the next thing I knew 30 minutes had gone by. Aagghh. Next step is bringing myself to take it apart after all the time it took to put together. That's gonna take awhile.Saturday, July 19, 2008
We're walking, we're walking, we're walking...
...and we're stopping. Ha, ha. If you have ever seen the show "Dave" then you will understand my laughter. Great show btw if you have never seen it. I highly recommend it.So... last week I decided that my walking 3 miles every other day wasn't going to cut it if I really wanted to lose some weight (which isn't just a want but also a need)... so for the past two weeks I have changed my route and now I walk about 6.5 miles M,W,F,S. I'm out of the house before the crack of dawn and spend part of the time while I walk reciting D&C 4, The Standard of Truth and The Living Christ. Beyond that I have been trying to memorize some new poems while reciting the ones I already know. It's a great time of the day to be out and enjoying the cooler weather along with getting some exercise. I love that everyone out walking or jogging is so friendly and say "good morning". I also love when I see people I know! This week I ran into a good friend who turned around and walked home with me. I'd say it was my lucky day... but I think more it's just the kind of friend he is. Either way... it sure made my day!

Have you... ?

Have you ever wished for something that you knew was completely selfish...
but to stop wishing would be to stop breathing?
Have you ever hoped for a miracle that you knew probably would never happen...
but you still hoped anyway?
Have you ever dremt of loving someone you knew you would never call your own...
but for some reason the dream stays alive?
I have.

4th of July... Parade and Breakfast
We started the day off with the annual neighborhood children's parade and breakfast at 8am.

Leah and Lydia were not thrilled to be up so early... but they were soon having as much fun as anyone.

The girls were wishing they were a little bigger to join in the fun...

but it didn't take long before they created some of their own!

Waterfall Clip
I'm still on the blog learning curve... here is a video
clip I took of one of the waterfalls we saw. I stand
in awe of the captivating beauties of nature.

Yellowstone
We chose West Yellowstone as the place for our annual Terry family reunion this year! It had been since I was in junior high that I was there last but I so enjoyed it... especially the 30 degree temperature difference.

We encountered some gorgeous fields of wild flowers, torrential downpours, beautiful sunsets and amazing waterfalls along with the bison, bald eagles, deer, moose and even a baby bear. We missed Kathee's family this year along with most of the older married grandchildren, hopefully next year we can have it a little closer to home so more can come.
Here are a few photos to enjoy.

Sixty-two and living life
Happy Birthday my friend!
You know how sometimes you meet certain people
and you just feel this unspoken connection with
them. How you just love being around them cause
they're happy and positive. They see the best in you
and can make you feel so good about yourself. They
are busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking
contest... but would give you the shirt off their back
without question or hesitation. One of those friends
who is willing to share... warts and all, and allow you
to know the real them. One of those who make your
life better and richer just because you know them.
That's the Jerry Grubbs I know and love!

3 words 4 U... I Love You!
Don't ask me why this clip doesn't fit in the column like it should... but whether it does or not... it doesn't change how much I love this song!
Sometimes that's all that needs to be said - I love you! And I do.
Sometimes that's all that needs to be said - I love you! And I do.
from a distance...
I heard this song for the first time today. The artists name is Taylor Swift. I love the words much more than the video. It would seem for me that love will always be... from a distance.
My kinda day... "if only"
