Besides all the usual stuff I am always THANKFUL for... family, friends, a great job, a car that continues to start, good health, a place to live, etc. This year I can add a few new things to the list...
A brother who lives close enough for frequent bathroom visits when the pipes freeze- buckets to fill the drain water when the washer drain is also frozen- a clean kitchen floor thanks to all the water- space heaters for every room- a heavy coat and a few inches of snow to cushion a tumble down the driveway-no broken bones or bruises-a brother who still comes to snow blow even when he has another house to worry about.
This past week has truly been a blessing in many ways. How especially thankful I am to live now and not to have been a pioneer woman.
We are finally back to having our monthly sisters lunch - we still wish Denise were closer to join us but it is nice to spend time together with whomever can come. Today we celebrated Mimi's 49th Happy Birthday at the new Brick Oven in Layton. Y-U-M -M-Y! I felt like I might hurl before I got home I had eaten so much, but it was oh so good!
I feel like I must give Shane's Auto a little plug! You know how you feel sometimes when something really good happens and you smile and shout, but what you really want to do is cry because your so happy? That is exactly how I felt driving home today in my newly repaired car. I have been listening to a terrible noise in my car for more than a year now, but the repair people I took it to say they could never hear it, thus could never fix it.
I finally took it to Shane's, he came for a ride with me, heard it and had it fixed within 4 hours. I will never take my car back to the other repair place... Shane's has my business for life. If you need an honest repair man who will take the time to repair your car right, give Shane a try. His shop is located just north of Arctic Circle on Orchard Drive.
This is where we stayed while in Victoria - Hotel Grand Pacific.
The five of us who went vacationing. This was our first breakfast morning. We found out quick that time to Victorians is not time to Utahans. You had to plan at least an hour wait before they would ever bring you any food. Trust me, don't ask for butter.
The Victoria Clipper - our transportation from Seattle to Victoria
Pike's Market in Seattle. I discovered I loved Pluots here!
I loved all the hanging flowers. Beautiful!
I had to take a picture of this sign in a store in Victoria - funny.
They kept pronouncing this different - so however you say it - you are probably right.
I wish we'd had more time in the gardens... I loved all the flowers.
If you have never been zipping you have to go! I was heading backwards - 350 feet. Our longest zip was 1000 ft... so sweet! Seriously so fun!
The five of us ready to zip. Only one of us didn't make it to the end. Bummer.
Steph having a good time!
More flower pictures!
We didn't have time to go see the Undersea gardens. Next time for sure.
I know, I know... its been a long time. My internet access is finally up and running again. Here are a few things that have happened or I've enjoyed while being out of the loop. It's all really boring - unless you are me!
Don't ask me why this clip doesn't fit in the column like it should... but whether it does or not... it doesn't change how much I love this song!
Sometimes that's all that needs to be said - I love you! And I do.
from a distance...
I heard this song for the first time today. The artists name is Taylor Swift. I love the words much more than the video. It would seem for me that love will always be... from a distance.
"If we could look into each other's hearts and understand the unique challenges each of us face, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care."

Ok, so Ive decided to put myself out there and share some of my original poems. I dont love at all this column size (it makes my poems look odd) but what can you do? Someday I will take a class and design my own blog and it will be perfect... until then, what you see is what you get. Hope you enjoy.
Dec Poem of the Month
Twas the morning of Christmas in two-thousand four with presents all opened and longing for more
One last gift unopened left under the tree a gift we give humbly to the whole family
This gift has a value no other can match we hope the true meaning your hearts will attach
We give it in honor for the work she has done her earning, your yearning the Young Women's Medallion
Now there may be a leper whose bandage is missing but so many an African face that is glistening
The Lord doesnt measure our success from a book but rather looks inward to our hearts He will look
Sarah's heart was as pure in her love for mankind as any who follow Him heart, might and mind
So this gift we give you with much joy and pleasure a gift for you all meant to honor and treasure
Nov Poem of the Month
Honesty is something you never outgrow for in your heart you'll always know one little lie can eat you alive an eternal destiny you could be deprived
I've found the truth is always best for then one's mind can truly rest things seem to always work out right especially if the choice I dont fight
I know I'll never understand the other people in this land who think they get away with lies but really are not very wise
For in the end they'll know at last it's you against you... your stone you'll cast
Oct Poem of the Month

Sep Poem of the Month
I tell ya I love ya And yet it doesn't sink in Tears from my heart Flood my eyes The pain to deep to ease What must be done Before you believe Please let me know, please I'll do it, whatever Till the day I die If only you will believe
Aug Poem of the Month
I wish that I could tell you the thoughts inside my heart but pain and hurt and anguish seem to stop me before I can start
We never talk, we never laugh it seems like life stands still but days and hours and weeks go by and the emptiness I can't seem to fill
I think that time will heal the wound if not, then another way but no more blaming it all on you for we change from day to day
July Poem of the Month
How far can one be trusted? As far as one can throw How much should you tell someone No one really knows
But once you do and it's too late To stop and turn around Just look a little deeper And hope a friend you've found
Some people can be trusted Like you've never known before It's just a chance we all should take And some take many more
June Poem of the Month
As I often think about you a certain sadness fills my mind for Ive known the best of teachers who is good and wise and kind
As I often think about you Im thankful every single day I had the chance to love and serve you youve touched my life in countless ways
As I often think about you I try to smile through the tears and recall your words and feels the hugs that have calmed and silenced fears
As I often think about you I wonder why Ive been so blessed that you would care enough about me to encourage change in me thats best
As I often think about you I see a debt that cant be paid more than just love you gave yourself theres no greater gift you could have made
As I often think about you the tears just start to flow for a man much like the Savior Ive grown to love and come to know

I wish I took the time to say the things I'll write in this poem today

Apr Poem of the Month
A friend is someone who will always love you no matter what you have said or done
A friend is someone who will stick close by when trouble comes they won’t turn and run
A friend is someone who lets you be you your faults they try to ignore
A friend is someone who wants to listen your heart to them you can pour
A friend is someone who feels your pain and would like to take it away
A friend is someone who will be the same tomorrow, just like today
A friend is someone who will step aside and let you decide on your own
A friend is someone who is always near there’s no reason to walk alone
Mar Poem of the Month
Have you ever had to say good-bye to someone who's always been there?
Have you ever had only awhile to show how much you really do care?
Have you ever had a close friend who shared both the praise and the shame?
Have you ever had the feeling that things might never be quite the same?
Feb Poem of the Month
Its way lots easier for me to say I love you on Valentines Day But please dont think or even guess the 364 other days that I love you any less
Jan Poem of the Month
How can one sit and think so fast Of things to put in writing Especially things I want to last When all my thoughts are hiding
I look around and see the same So now I’m not alone The feeling has escaped and came But still I sit as stone
I feel the numbness all go out The rush of blood so cold My feelings start to fly about And a poem I start to mold
