"Let them eat cake"

I was blessed with my first attempt at helping make a wedding cake! YIKES. After my sister finally got the cakes to bake without sinking in the middle(I think that was really the hardest part) it took us a little while, but we finally got the hang of the fondant icing. We actually did a pretty sweet job for first timers... if I do say so myself... however, I don't think I'll quit my day job. The best part was that Dany LOVED it and thought it was beautiful! Whew. Here is a photo of the finished product and the happy couple... the new Mr & Mrs Caleb Heder!

Mixed Emotions

I just heard the news... Pres Hinckley passed away tonight in his home. I have very mixed emotions. I remember well sitting in a hallway inside the Salt Lake Temple waiting my turn for a sealing assignment very early one morning years ago when around the corner came walking (rather quickly I might add) Gordon B Hinckley. Although it seemed that he had someplace to be he stopped, shook our hands, said hello and told us we had made a good choice in being where we were that morning. He was not the Prophet then, but I still remember the feeling I felt from having been in his presence and having shaken his hand. I will miss our great Prophet, his giant spirit, testimony and quick wit. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will never, ever be the same after today... not that thats a bad thing... just different. I'm sure it was a happy reunion for he and Marjorie! And just think.... he got to shake hands with and hug the Prophet Joseph today too.

Its a jungle out there

One calling I have in my ward is to be the basketball coach to the young women. Have you ever tried to teach a fish how to ride a bicycle? Ok, so that might be exaggerating a tiny bit, but I don't believe you could call what happens each Thursday night "basketball"... its more like jungle ball that turns into a free for all. I do have to give them some credit though, they do show up for practice, they really try hard, they love to play and have never failed to make me laugh, so all in all I actually am having a good time. We even won our first game! I was told that being around the youth will keep me young... sweet!...now is there anything to reverse grey hair?

The greenie blogger!

I'm not quite sure I know what I'm doing, but here I am. A friend encouraged me to get a blog address (is that what you call it?) that I wanted before it was gone and today my niece Amy (she prefers Amelia) taught me all the cool stuff you see so far. If the truth be told, it's actually been kinda fun. I think my life is too boring to actually have a blog... but boring or not, here I am.

3 words 4 U... I Love You!

Don't ask me why this clip doesn't fit in the column like it should... but whether it does or not... it doesn't change how much I love this song!

Sometimes that's all that needs to be said - I love you! And I do.

from a distance...

I heard this song for the first time today. The artists name is Taylor Swift. I love the words much more than the video. It would seem for me that love will always be... from a distance.
