Sixty-two and living life

Happy Birthday my friend!

You know how sometimes you meet certain people
and you just feel this unspoken connection with
them. How you just love being around them cause
they're happy and positive. They see the best in you
and can make you feel so good about yourself. They
are busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking
contest... but would give you the shirt off their back
without question or hesitation. One of those friends
who is willing to share... warts and all, and allow you
to know the real them. One of those who make your
life better and richer just because you know them.

That's the Jerry Grubbs I know and love!

M'm M'm Good

I saw this recipe on Studio 5 and decided to try it out for our family BBQ on
Memorial day without really knowing how they would turn out. Needless to
say there was not a crumb left in the pan. However they were VERY stuck
in the pan. It was not easy to get a piece out, so I suggest lightly greasing
the bottom of the pan even though it does not say to do that. I also didnt
think they turned out looking like the photo below... but they were so
good! Enjoy!

Turtle Bars

Ingredients:
1 roll refrigerated sugar cookies
2 C semisweet chocolate chips
2 C pecans, chopped (optional)
2 C almonds, slivered (optional)
1/2 C butter
1/2 C brown sugar
1 jar caramel ice cream topping
1 C graham cracker crumbs (16 squares)

Method:
1 - Preheat oven to 350 F (325 for dark or nonstick pans).

Press cookie dough evenly in bottom of ungreased 9x13 inch pan
2. Sprinkle 1 C of the chocolate chips, 1 C Pecans, 1 C almonds over
dough; lightly press into dough. Set aside
3. In a medium size sauce-pan, melt butter over medium-high
heat. Stir in brown sugar, caramel topping and graham cracker
crumbs. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Pour over crust in
pan; spread evenly. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips
and pecans.
4. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges are a deep golden brown and
pecans are lightly toasted. Cool on a cooling rack 30 minutes;
loosen sides from pan, but do not cut. Cool completely, about 3
hours longer.

Memorial Weekend

Here are a few pictures from Sun/Mon of Memorial weekend. It
was pretty wet and miserable... I wont lie, but we bundled up as
best we could and enjoyed a great BBQ feast up in Syracuse at a
park near Mimi's house. We had the park all to ourselves... go
figure! Only the bravest of the brave ventured out. We missed
the others. Thanks Steve for the hot chocolate idea... that sure

was a hit!
Sunday was a lot nicer weather wise, glad we went to visit
graves that day. Leah couldnt quite figure out how come
Grandma and Grandpa werent at the cemetery to see her... by
the end of the visit she finally said, "theyre buried in the
ground?" Being only three, Im still not sure she really knew
what that meant. Someday...

Tear Jerker

If the truth be told I am a very tender hearted cry baby... the tears come easily, especially when it has nothing to do with me personally. In all my years of playing softball never have I ever seen anything like this. What a beautiful and amazing sacrifice. I hope it touches you like it has me.

Early morning finish

Thought you might like to see a few pic's of the finished playground... or the "park" as Leah calls it. We finished this morning at 12:20am! Steve really wanted to get it done before he leaves town tomorrow.

The girls are so LOVING it. They especially love to swing. If you look close in my pictures you can see their blurry profiles in action on the swings. Guess I ought to learn how to take a photo with motion and not have it turn out blurry, huh? If you can't find me anywhere... come look for me in the playhouse.

3 words 4 U... I Love You!

Don't ask me why this clip doesn't fit in the column like it should... but whether it does or not... it doesn't change how much I love this song!

Sometimes that's all that needs to be said - I love you! And I do.

from a distance...

I heard this song for the first time today. The artists name is Taylor Swift. I love the words much more than the video. It would seem for me that love will always be... from a distance.
