Twas the morning of Christmas
in two-thousand four
with presents all opened
and longing for more

One last gift unopened
left under the tree
a gift we give humbly
to the whole family

This gift has a value
no other can match
we hope the true meaning
your hearts will attach

We give it in honor
for the work she has done
her earning, your yearning
the Young Women's Medallion

Now there may be a leper
whose bandage is missing
but so many an African face
that is glistening

The Lord doesnt measure
our success from a book
but rather looks inward
to our hearts He will look

Sarah's heart was as pure
in her love for mankind
as any who follow Him
heart, might and mind

So this gift we give you
with much joy and pleasure
a gift for you all
meant to honor and treasure

As I often think about you
a certain sadness fills my mind
for Ive known the best of teachers
who is good and wise and kind

As I often think about you
Im thankful every single day
I had the chance to love and serve you
youve touched my life in countless ways

As I often think about you
I try to smile through the tears
and recall your words and feels the hugs
that have calmed and silenced fears

As I often think about you
I wonder why Ive been so blessed
that you would care enough about me
to encourage change in me thats best

As I often think about you
I see a debt that cant be paid
more than just love you gave yourself
theres no greater gift you could have made

As I often think about you
the tears just start to flow
for a man much like the Savior
Ive grown to love and come to know
